Nomad, Inc. is a web-based multiplayer pixel game that uses satire to speculate the impact of rising sea levels on corporations.


# CONCEPT

We’re TIRED of bearing the individual burden of fixing climate change!!

So we’re SHIFTING the focus of a very real problem ”climate migration” to corporate entities instead of the average citizen!

This game will raise awareness of the broad impact a warming planet will have and will highlight the collective action at the corporate level that is realistically required to mitigate it

># GAME MECHANICS


#1 Scene

In the Desktop scene, players receive an email alerting them that their location is in danger due to rising sea levels. To save their company, they must relocate their company headquarters.


#2 Scene

In this scene, players are presented with the challenge of an accelerated flooding schedule.
The map displays nearby cities where the player can relocate but the encroaching shoreline forces players to be strategic.
Players use real-world topology and a timeline feature to estimate how different cities face flooding over time



#3 Scene

>Player encounter a city's security who reviews their company's regulations, especially about sea level-related practices.
The challenge in the game is to update company policies to meet increasingly strict sustainability regulations.
Only then will players be able to unlock new city and survive. However, If they fail, players need to go back to your company, meet the CEO, and negotiate important corporate changes which will affect the carbon footprint.

Using the NASA tools, we interpolated a bit from those projections to help inform our game’s accelerated flooding.

JPL has helped us plot the current trajectory of sea-level rise and coastal erosion, ensuring the compressed timeline of our gameworld closely matches the real-world effects of climate change.

With NOAA data, we constructed a proof-of-concept for a system of equations that models the production and behavior of atmospheric carbon. Similar to how the Unity or Unreal physics engine calculates the effect of gravity on your character, the Carbon Engine calculates the impact of greenhouse gases on our Game World.
